7 arrested in anti-illegal drug operation in Basilan

POLICE have arrested seven people, including two suspected drug peddlers, in an anti-illegal drug operation in the province of Basilan, a police official said on March 21.

Superintendent Restituto Pangusban, Isabela City police chief, identified the suspected drug pushers as Cesar Yu Jr., 32, and Mohammad Saeed Soberano Latip, 32.

The alleged drug users nabbed were Mohammad Rhusdi Soberano Latip, 37; Edlovin Natividad, 27; Alvin Alonzo, 47; Gino Sta. Maria, 22; and Abuhair Anjala, 17.

Pangusban said they were arrested in a drug bust at 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, at Purok 3 in the village of Sta. Cruz, Isabela City.

Yu and Latip were nabbed after they sold one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) for P500 to an undercover policeman, he added.

Pangusban said the five users were caught having pot session when they carried out the drug bust. The police recovered two large and four small sachets of suspected shabu and P500 marked money from Latip.

Recovered from Mohammad Rhusdi, Alonzo and Sta. Maria were three sachets of shabu.

Also seized were illegal drug paraphernalia, added Pangusban. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
