Ateneo de Davao probes parent who 'threatened' professor

THE Ateneo de Davao University (Addu) is investigating the incident involving a parent who allegedly threatened one of its professors, on Tuesday, over his child's failing grade.

"We will issue a statement tomorrow (March 22) after the investigation and fact finding today (March 21)," the university said in a message on Wednesday.

The parent allegedly holds a government position.

Addu will also investigate the veracity of claims that a gun was able to pass through the university security.

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokesperson Senior Inspector Ma. Teresita Gaspan confirmed, in an information relayed by the chief of police of Sta. Ana Police Station Inspector Nolan Raquid, that the security officer of Addu already filed a blotter in behalf of the victim on Wednesday.

Raquid, in a separate interview, clarified there was no gun involved in the incident, based on the narrative of the security officer, but merely verbal threat.

"Yes na-blotter nato diri ang maong insidente, pero walay nahitabo nga dunay baril nga nakasulod sa campus ug walay baril nga gition sa teacher, only threatening lang according to the AdDU security officer (The blotter has been filed but no gun was used against the teacher, nor a gun was able to enter the campus," he said.

He refused to divulge other details on the incident as advised by a university official pending result of the investigation.

They are yet to issue the blotter report too.

Addu professor John Harvey Gamas in a Facebook post, Tuesday, March 20, condemned the incident.

"Parents should never verbally abuse nor threaten techers especially with a gun. We are willing to die for the grades we give our students!#JUSTICEforTEACHERS"
