ILOILO Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. has increased the allowances of Provincial Government scholars to help these students pursue their college degrees.
The increase in allowances will be enjoyed by 125 incoming Provincial Government scholars for School Year 2018-2019, according to lawyer Suzette Mamon, the governor’s chief of staff.
From 2,500 monthly allowance, scholars will now get P3,500 monthly stipend, P2,000 book allowance (from P1,000 per semester) and P1,000 clothing allowance (from P1,000 per year).
Senior high school graduates belonging to the upper 10 percent of the graduating class with annual gross family income of not more than P150,000 and a bona fide residents of the province is qualified to apply for Iskolar sang Iloilo Program (Isip).
The courses covered by the scholarship are Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, Forestry, Cooperative Development, Education, Information Technology, Accounting, Management and other related Social Sciences in State Colleges and Universities in the city and province of Iloilo.
To apply, interested students should secure the application form from the secretariat of Isip in Human Resource Management and Development Office of the Iloilo Provincial Capitol.
Other supporting documents required are the certification from the school principal that the applicant belongs to the upper 10 percent of the graduating class, certification signed by punong barangay that the applicant is a bona fide resident of the barangay and of good moral character, photocopy of school identification card, one 2x2” recent photo and certification from the Municipal Social Welfare and Development that the applicant belongs to the economically disadvantaged family.
Applicants from first, second and third district have to submit the required documents for screening in the Iloilo Provincial Capitol on or before April 30, 2018. For fourth district applicants, documents have to be submitted in the mayor’s office of Banate and Passi City and for fifth district applicants, in mayor’s office of Ajuy and Estancia.
Qualified applicants will take the scholarship written examination in Northern Iloilo Polytechnic State College (NIPSC) in Estancia (May 5), NIPSC-Ajuy Campus (May 6), ABC Hall in Passi City (May 12), Banate Municipal Hall (May 13) and Iloilo Provincial Capitol (May 19-20).
