Davao's help hotline gets 17,000 prank calls in 2017

THE Kean Gabriel has recorded over 17,000 prank calls from January to December last year.

Data obtained from the Kean Gabriel showed that the hotline has received 17,660 prank calls in 2017, of which a huge number of phone calls were noted from July to December.

Out of the total calls, 57 were recorded in January; 87 in February; 356 in March; 412 in April; 339 in May; 817 in June; 2,843 in July; 2,932 in August; 2,815 in September; 2,661 in October; 2,128 in November; and 2,213 in December.

The Davao City Social Services and Development Office Quick Response Team of Children's Concern (CSSDO-QRTCC) has been calling the public to be responsible in making calls, as their hotline is not intended for gag.

CSSDO-QRTCC head Juenalyn Pablo earlier asked the public to only report what is necessary. She added that the Kean Gabriel hotline was activated to save those children abused.

The number is 0908-818-4444 and may be reached via call or text. The team under the CSSDO-QRTCC is composed of social workers, police officers, health professionals and paralegals.
