WE WERE still first year college students when I first got my invite to one of the parties of the Lim clan in Davao City, the proprietors of cosmetic brand RDL and several other hotel and leisure spots here.
My classmate Kristine who would later turn out to be one of my dearest friends had her debut then and if not for the flashing staff, we wouldn’t have guessed that she’s actually the granddaughter of the founder, Leonora Lim.
I think that’s just how their principle goes, they live simply but celebrate grandly which is just fitting for really hard-working people like their family as evident in another party I attended recently.
RDL chief executive officer and president Leonora Lim who turned 72, celebrated with her daughter Mercedita Lim, executive vice president for Operations of RDL Pharmaceuticals, Inc., who also turned 50 on March 10.
Leonora and Mercedita celebrated their birthdays together with family and friends. And by friends, the celebrities and other public figures in the country.
First to come out from the golden doors was Angelica dela Cruz. Perhaps her secret to her flawless and white skin is now revealed to many as she shared she was most honored that the Lims chose her to be their first brand ambassadress back when the company was still starting.
There were also their newest ambassadress Miss International 2016 Kylie Versoza who was ten times more stunning in person and TV host/ News Anchor Korina Sanchez who gave due remarks to two of the country’s most empowered women, Leonora and Mercedita, for building and sustaining the good name of their company.
The RDL brand has touched lives not only in the Philippines but as far as in Indonesia and Thailand. Asian women received the products well as they give confidence and self-esteem through revealing their beautiful skin from within.
The count of high-profile personalities doesn’t end there as the stage had Gabby Concepcion singing the birthday girls their favorite classic tunes later on.
And not long after Gabby’s wonderful parade was certified fitness goals Troy Montero’s moment as he serenaded Leonora and Mercedita and the other guests like they were under the moonlight because of the romantic vibe that emanates from his singing.
Another pretty face spotted at the venue was Kris Bernal, dance heartthrob Aaron Villaflor, and handsome face Albert Martinez who was really close with the ladies as he sat with them throughout the night.
The star-studded event which was held in the D’Leonora Inland Resort was hosted by the Pambansang Ilong ng Pilipinas Allan K. who opened the program with his lively rendition of Bruno Mars’ Uptown Funk.
The staff and family also performed their dance numbers in between raffle draws with expensive prizes. Whoever is drawn from the lot would either receive signature bags or trips abroad.
The celebration was enjoyed by every guest who graced the event. It just shows how Leonora and Mercedita are well-loved by everyone around them.
Their work in the field of business and cosmetics has helped other people grow roundly as influenced by their good leadership and people management.
The two ladies, considered as jewels of the city, are among the notable Dabawenyos who are regarded highly because of their achievements in their own fields.
