P2.5M worth of shabu seized

THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 7 seized P2.5 million worth of illegal drugs during a drug bust in Barangay Calawisan, Lapu-Lapu City last Friday afternoon.

Arrested were Kirby Berame, 28; Romel Bering, 24; and Demetrio Berame Jr., 32.

Acting on information provided by a concerned citizen, the agency placed Kirby under surveillance. It was then they discovered that his cohort Demetrio was allegedly an underling of a drug personality who had already been arrested, said PDEA 7 spokesperson Leia Albiar.

Their area of distribution was Lapu-Lapu City and they could dispose of 50 to 100 grams of shabu per week, she said.

The Berames are considered high-value targets, she added.

Kirby is reportedly a trisikad driver and the other two are welders.

Agents confiscated 15 packs of shabu weighing 500 grams.

The suspects will charged with violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 for sale and possession of illegal drugs and conspiracy, among others. (JOB)
