A 29-year-old man was killed while his brother was hurt when their motorcycle collided with a car in Barangay Linao-Lipata, Minglanilla at dawn yesterday.
Edrey Capillanes, 29, was declared dead on arrival in the Minglanilla District Hospital at 5:30 a.m. yesterday.
Capillanes, a resident of Sitio Upper Linao-Lipata, was going home together with his younger brother Clyde when they collided with the car driven by Arnel Balili, 41.
Based on the investigation of traffic investigator PO2 Mark Rosaroso, Balili was heading toward Cebu City while Capillanes was on the opposite lane.
Rosaroso said that Capillanes wanted to overtake another vehicle and encroached on the other lane when he tried to do so.
Capillanes then collided head-on with Balili’s car. The brothers were severely injured.
They were immediately brought to the Minglanilla District Hospital, but only Clyde survived.
Balili is temporarily detained in the Minglanilla Police Station pending the filing of cases against him. (JKV)
