A FORMER town official who filed a candidacy for vice mayor was wounded in a drive-by gun attack in Zamboanga City, the police reported Sunday.
City police spokesman Joel Tuttuh said the incident occurred around 12:20 a.m. Sunday along Fr. Salvador Street in the village of Sta. Maria, Zamboanga City.
He identified the victim as Sihon Indanan, 45, who filed his certificate of candidacy for vice mayor of Isabela City, the capital of Basilan province. Indanan is running independently. He has served as councilor when Isabela was still a municipality.
Based on investigation, Indanan was driving a motorcycle when shot by one of two men onboard another motorcycle. He suffered two gunshot wounds on his back. He was admitted to a hospital for treatment.
Tuttuh said police are looking into two possible motives: personal grudge and politically motivated.
He said the Scene of the Crime Operatives recovered three empty shells and a deformed slug of caliber .45 pistol at the crime scene.
