THE Carcar City Government will open a 1.7-kilometer diversion road, which starts in Barangay Valladolid and exits in Barangay Poblacion 1, tomorrow, in time for the expected influx of south-bound travelers for Holy Week.
The diversion road is 20 meters wide.
The City has also built a 1.2-kilometer road to connect Barangays Poblacions 1 and 2.
Mayor Nicepuro Apura said that once the second diversion road is open, the main highway leading to the city’s rotunda will be clear of bumper-to-bumper traffic.
Apura said the second diversion road will start at the New Carcar City Hall in Barangay Valladolid and exit on the main highway in Barangay Poblacion 1.
He said the second diversion road was built while the New City Hall was under construction, adding that the City only spent for backfilling materials.
The mayor hopes the two diversion roads will decongest traffic in the rotunda area. (JKV)
