Don’t advertise your trips on social media during Holy Week

DO NOT broadcast on social networking sites like Facebook that you are on vacation.

This is one of the safety tips included in the leaflets distributed on Tuesday, March 27, by the officials of Police Regional Office-Central Visayas, Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) and Cebu Provincial Police Office to the travelers in Cebu's north and south bus terminals and Cebu City Pier 1.

"Keep quiet...You never know who is going to be reading or listening. Instead, tell few selected people in your neighborhood so that they can keep an eye on your house," the security tip read.

Senior Superintendent Angelito Dumangeng, the regional directorial staff chief, said they are on full alert during the Holy Week and the entire summer months.

Dumangeng and Senior Superintendent Joel Doria, the CCPO director, led the police officials in distributing the leaflets and foldable fans printed with the ten most wanted criminals in Cental Visayas.

Some of the advices for travelers include leaving jewelry and other expensive belongings at home, keeping cash in a money belt not in purse, and planning on who to call and what to do in case they got lost or emergency situations.

Parents are told to teach their kids to swim before leaving on vacation. Adults should be near their children, who should wear swim vests, police advised. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
