DAVAO City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte admitted Sunday he was touched by Jimmy Bondoc's composition entitled “Takbo” performed during vice presidentiable Alan Peter Cayetano’s birthday in Taguig which the mayor attended.
“It’s a nice song. It’s very inspiring and nakakatabang puso,” Duterte said in his weekly program Gikan sa Masa, Para sa Masa (From the Masses, For the Masses).
The song “Takbo” can be found on YouTube. It was sung by Pido, Ian Fajardo, Mike Caleda [The Crib], Max [Climax], Niel de Mesa, Luke Mejares, Paolo Santos, Joel Guarin, Thor, Gail Blanco, and Rickson Ruiz.
The lyrics of the song urge Duterte to run, with the lines saying: "Kahit di mo kailangan ng palakpak, kailangan namin ang iyong pakpak... takbo."
But Duterte said that his stand on running for president has not changed, stating the problems of the country, including the West Philippine Sea dispute, the rebellion in Mindanao, Tripoli Agreement, graft and corruption, criminality and drugs, are too much that he cannot find solution for it.
“Kanang uban diha gusto man nila, ihatag sa ila (Those others who want it, give it to them),” Duterte said.
He also said that his political ads with Cayetano is just a form of friendly support.
“The fact na wala nako siya badlonga, naa na’y approval or consent, to help mag padaug sa iya sa Mindanao, Visayas, Cebu, Bohol, and Leyte (The fact that I did reprimand him, there is approval and consent, to help him win in Mindanao, Visayas, Cebu, Bohol and Leyte),” Duterte said.
He said though that he can also endorse other candidates and it’s up for the people to decide who to vote.
