MBCCI to host Visayas business conference

A BUSINESS leader here said on Monday, April 2, that they are eyeing about 500 delegates in the Visayas Business Conference which will be held in Bacolod City this August.

Frank Carbon, regional governor of Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) in Western Visayas and chief executive officer of Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI), said businessmen and government officials from the Visayas region - Western, Central and Eastern - will be present.

The conference will be held at SMX Convention Center in Bacolod City.

Carbon also said this will be another opportunity for the local business to showcase their wares and an opportunity to boost the local economy.

“For sure the delegates will stay in hotels and will spend their money for food and pasalubongs and they will also visit some of the tourist destinations in the province,” he said.

Carbon said the presence of local officials during the business conference is crucial because they play big roles in investments and businesses that are coming in their respective localities.

Meanwhile, Carbon cautioned the public that the Tax Reformation Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Law is not yet fully implemented.

“The full implementation and impact of the Train Law could be felt in June,” Carbon said.

With this, he is urging the government especially the Department of Trade and Industry and the Department of Agriculture to closely conduct price monitoring as there are some unscrupulous businessmen who have implemented overpricing in their goods at the start of the implementation of the tax reform law.
