La Trinidad out to keep swimming title at Benguet meet

LA TRINIDAD is aiming to once again rule in swimming at the 2015 Benguet Provincial Sports meet next month.

La Trinidad’s swimming team, which hauled in 28 gold medals last year, is primed to defend its title, coach Laurence Daguio.

“I am optimistic our young athletes will perform well in the coming provincial meet, at least we are still the team to be challenged by the other municipalities of Benguet,” Daguio told Sun.Star Baguio.

La Trinidad won 134 gold, 74 silver, and 73 bronze medals to claim last year’s overall title.

The elementary swimming team came up with 18 golds, and the high school team contributed 10.

“We are hoping to win more medals this time around, particularly in our elementary entries that show a lot of potential,” Daguio said.

“Probably they also have the best chances to uplift the Province of Benguet in the 2016 edition of the Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association meet in Baguio City,” he added.

Daguio considers the biggest threat to come from Tuba which won 12 golds last year. (MVP)
