THEY will no longer be dancing together.
Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan surprised fans when they announced their breakup over social media.
“Hey, world! So... We have something we would like to share,” the joint statement started, which was very typical of the couple—funny. Their Instagram posts about each other were always fun and funny. “We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple. We fell deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together.”
The actors, both 37, met while filming the movie “Step Up” in 2006. They got married three years later. Their daughter was born four years after the wedding. Now, 12 years after they met, they decided to break up.
“Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another. But love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us to different paths for now,” the statement signed Chan & Jenna continued.
Unlike the many other splits this year—Hank Baskett and Kendra Wilkinson, Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik, Eric Dane and Rebecca Gayheart, Michael Sheen and Sarah Silverman, Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux—there were no reports of marriage troubles between the “Magic Mike” actor and “World of Dance” host.
This is the reason some netizens thought the couple’s announcement was just an April Fool’s prank.
“There are no secrets nor salacious events at the root of our decision—just two best friends realizing it’s time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives as possible. We are still a family and will always be loving, dedicated parents to Everly,” the couple also said.
“We won’t be commenting beyond this, and we thank you in advance for respecting our family’s privacy. Sending lots of love to everyone.”
And while they might not want to comment on their relationship, many did. Fans were so saddened about this breakup that Tatum’s name trended for hours following the announcement. (JGA)
