City Hall honors exemplary women employees

SELECTED female workers of Cagayan de Oro City Hall have been named as Exemplary Women of City Hall during the flag raising on Monday, April 2, as part of the recently culminated Women's Month celebration.

According to City Information Officer Abigail Malalis, the Search for Exemplary Women of City Hall is an initiative of the City Hall's Gender and Development Committee chaired by City Accountant Beda Joy Elot, to recognize female employees who excel in their work as public servants.

"Giving acknowledgement and importance and recognition sa mga babae nga workers sa (to the female workers of the) City Hall. For the longest years nag trabaho, dili lang para lamang dinhi sa City Hall as a public servant pero sa community pud niya (they worked, not only in the City Hall as a public servant but also for the community as well)," Malalis said.

Out of the more than 20 female workers representing the different departments of the City Hall, only 10 were named exemplary women. The top five will be receiving a plaque and a cash prize.

A certificate of appreciation as well as a cash prize worth P1,000 will also be given to those who were in the 6th to 10th places.

Diana Beja of the City Assessor's Office was recognized as the "Most Exemplary Woman of City Hall" and was given a P5,000 worth of cash prize and a plaque; followed by Myrna Dangcal from the City Information Office who received P3,000 worth of cash prize and a plaque.

The third, fourth and fifth placers, namely: Felicitas Golosino from the Office of the Building Official, Ochered Berondo of the City Economic Enterprise Department, and Nena Undag-Luandog from the City Social Welfare and Development Office, respectively, were also awarded with a cash prize worth P2,000 and a plaque.

Other nominees were Albina Delgra from the City Council; Elsa Edrote of the East West Terminal and Public Market; Maribel Guzman of the Civil Registry; Sylvia Flores from the City Planning; and Marcela Aggarao of the Agricultural Productivity Office. They all received a cash prize of P1,000 and a certificate of appreciation.

This is the first time the City Hall conducted a Search for Exemplary Women of City Hall 2018 which started on March 8 in accordance to the celebration of the Women’s Month, Malalis said.
