Citizens turn in loose firearms

CONCERNED citizens in the Cordillera have chipped in their support to the Police Regional Office campaign on loose firearms.

Councilor Jerry Parada, 55, of Licuan-Baay voluntarily surrendered 40mm explosives to the personnel of Licuan-Baay Police Station on April 3 found by a concerned citizen at the pasture land of Barangay Subagan.

On same day, personnel of San Quintin Municipal Police Station received a call from Pantoc Barangay Chairman Martin Callos Claveria informing them of a resident who turned over a fifle grenade which was eventually surrendered to Chief Inspector Rico Chiday Saro, chief of police of San Quintin MPS.

In Barangay Tui, Daguioman, village chief Jaime Quibayen, 73, voluntarily surrendered an unlicensed Gauge 12 Shotgun, without markings and ammunition to police.

In Ifugao, Monggayang, Aguinaldo village chief Patrick Guinomom together with Summy Acangan Sr. surrendered one caliber .45 pistol, Colt MK 1V with serial no. 144321 with one magazine without ammunition owned by Jaime Gumihid Acangan.

The firearm was allegedly used by Dexter Bangyan Acangan in shooting his brother in-law, Joshua Innay Ogasna sometime on the evening of March 25 at Sitio Nepojnoh, Aguinaldo, Ifugao but the incident was settled by both parties.

In Mountain Province, a loose firearm was voluntarily surrendered by village chief Timothy Pongad of Sitio Sallog, Caluttit, Bontoc.

Pongad surrendered a caliber 38 revolver, with markings “S&W” with serial number 07758 to the personnel of Bontoc MPS.

The firearm was found by one of his constituents inside a wooden chest box while cleaning the storage room beside their residence.

All firearms are now under the custody of the different police units.
