Anti-terror simulation exercise held

THE Eastern Mindanao Command (Eastmincom) bared Wednesday that a three-day anti-terrorism simulation exercise is set to end in a closing ceremony at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 6, with Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio as guest.

Eastmincom spokesperson Major Ezra Balagtey said the exercise aims to enhance and develop joint and inter-agency operations mechanism and inter-operability and strengthen whole of nation approach in addressing various threats.

Balagtey said integrating the land and water-based scenarios, different agencies from the safety and security sectors participated in the simulation exercise to strengthen anew its efforts in preventing violence extremism.

The Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC), Davao City Police Office (DCPO), Davao Central 911 and the Davao Coast Guard also joined.

"Significantly, this exercise will utilize both sea and water assets and will simulate terrorist attacks from sea to land, land to sea," Balagtey said.

He added that maritime interdiction, pursuit operation, hostage taking, bomb disposal, and another incident that might happen during a terrorist attack were also conducted.
