THE Iloilo Provincial Government is set to celebrate its 117th foundation anniversary dubbed “Semana sang Iloilo” on April 10 to 13, 2018.
Various activities have been slated during the occasion with the theme “Iloilo: Banwang Pinili, Banwang Hamili”.
“Semana sang Iloilo” marks the establishment of the civil government of Iloilo province on April 11, 1901 where General Martin Delgado was appointed as the first provincial governor.
The four-day affair will be highlighted by a Tourism Trade Fair and Exhibit to be held at the Casa Real and a Garden Show at the Capitol grounds.
On April 11, there will be a Rescue Olympics where responders from the different municipalities will showcase their emergency response skills.
The activity will be held at the Capitol lobby and grounds.
At 10 a.m. of the same day, the province will turn-over to the National Museum the newly-renovated Iloilo Rehabilitation Center (IRC) building which will be converted into a Western Visayas Regional Museum.
Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. will lead the inauguration of the new facilities of the Iloilo Provincial Hospital in Pototan, Iloilo at 3 p.m.
On April 12, there will be an awarding ceremony of the Top Real Property and Business Taxpayers in the province to be held at the Capitol lobby.
Meanwhile at 10 a.m. it will be the launching of QR Code for Iloilo Province’s Tourism at the ground floor of Casa Real.
The QR Code is a technological platform that will contain information about Iloilo towns particularly their tourist attractions.
The 117th Semana sang Iloilo will also feature sports and cultural activities that will be participated in by Provincial Government employees.
The celebration will be capped by the traditional “Pasidungog” where provincial government retirees and Iskolar sang Iloilo graduates will be given awards and certificates or recognition.
It will be held on April 13 from 2-5 p.m. at the Casa Real social hall. (PR)
