Iloilo gov’t distributes P3-M aid to LGUs

THE Provincial Government of Iloilo distributed P3.1-million financial assistance to six municipalities to finish the construction of seven community infrastructure development projects.

The P1.2-million financial assistance went to Tigbuan town for the construction of hanging steel bridge in Barangay Jamog and P150,000 for the town’s socio-cultural activities during the celebration of the 4th Pagdaug-Saludan Festival.

Jamong Punong Barangay Froebel Tusiap received the cheque from Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. during the turnover ceremony held at the Governor’s Office on Thursday.

Tigbuan Mayor Suzette Alquisada also provided the barangay with P300,000 counterpart fund to finish the bridge.

“This project means a lot to us since it is really hard and dangerous to cross the river during rainy days and we thank the governor for making it happen,” Tusiap said.
The bridge is expected to be finished within nine months from the awarding of contract to the winning contractor by the Municipal Government.

The governor also provided a total of P950,000 for the repainting of the municipal building of Mina (P350,000), rehabilitation of overflow in Barangay Tuy-an East, Maasin (P300,000) and upgrading of canal in Barangay Zone IX, Cabatuan (P300,000).

He also gave P100,000 for the completion of health center of Barangay Sapao, Dumangas and P790,000 for the construction of foot bridge in Barangay San Jose, Lemery.
