More Oro ‘police stations’ eyed

CAGAYAN de Oro City police director Senior Superintendent Nelson Aganon said he will look into the proposal of installing more police stations in Cagayan de Oro City.

Aganon, who assumed the top post of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) early this week, said it is better if there will be more police stations that would serve the best interest of the people and the community.

"We will tackle with our command and this will be for deliberation pa,"Aganon said, adding that they will also check if they can add more police vehicles which are highly needed in responding to crimes effectively.

"Malaki ang need ng sasakyan kasi importante ang mobility and speed sa pagresponde,"Aganon added.

City councilor Reuben Daba, member of the police committee of the city council, said the city's legislative body has long been proposing for additional police stations in the city.

Daba said the move has been discussed already even during the previous city council.

The city has 10 police stations at present and he said an additional of 10 more would be best to boost efforts of the local police to deter criminality and ensure safety of the public.

"Nag-special report ana si Kagawad Calizo then nagdugang ko nga kung pwede dugangan gayud kay kanang 10 sauna pana panahon sa mga kanhi mayor," Daba said.

He said it is high time for the city to have more police stations because of the increasing population.

However, he said the proposal has not been put into writing, saying the city should have to wait for the “mercy” of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Daba said the City Council might resort to writing a letter address to the top officials of the PNP so the said request can be addressed.

“Walay tay resolution ana kay ang magbuot is ang PNP man. Under the mercy ra gayud ta ani sa PNP.” Daba said.
