Widow takes oath as councilor of Victorias

VICTORIAS City has a new member in their council in the person of Virginia Adorio, widow of the late councilor Pacifico Adorio.

She took her oath of office before Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. Friday, April 6, in the presence of Board Member Salvador Escalante Jr. and her family.

Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca said the appointment of the new councilor was recommended by the Liberal Party (LP) which the former member of the council belongs.

Thus, they have given his political party the leeway to choose the replacement of the late councilor.

It was LP-Negros Occidental official and former governor Rafael Coscolluela who recommended the newly-appointed councilor.

This is the practice that when an elected official dies, a member of the family is normally appointed by his or her political party, the mayor said.
