No travel ban yet to Paris – DFA

FILIPINOS planning to visit Paris, France soon may still do so, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Monday, following the terror attacks in the French capital last Friday that left at least 129 people dead.

In a statement, the DFA said "there is no travel restriction in place, as of this time."

Still, the Philippine Embassy in Paris said those planning to travel to France in the very near future should closely monitor the news and official French government advisories for the latest developments there.

“Everyone is requested to exercise vigilance and caution and to be aware of their surroundings, with the view to ensuring their personal security,” said the embassy.

It also advised Filipinos in Paris to avoid going outdoors as much as possible.

“As long as necessary, Filipinos should stay indoors, avoid unnecessary movement, monitor the news and be guided by announcements from authorities,” said the embassy.

Finally, the DFA said the Philippine Embassy may be contacted for any concerns and queries through its emergency number at: 06 20 59 25 15.

On early Saturday morning (Manila time), Paris was struck by a string of terror activities, including twin bomb explosions, shooting in restaurants, and a massacre at a concert hall.

Terror group Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has already claimed responsibility for the attacks. (HDT/Sunnex)
