Negros teams off to national tchoukball tilt

TWENTY-three Negrense players will fly to Manila to represent Tchoukball Association of Negros Team and compete in the National Tchoukball Championships on April 11 to 13 at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

The James Vergel Jamelo-mentored Junior Ilahas-men will be led by Yoshio Mempin Gennai, Gursimranjit Singh, Joshua Miguel Ciokon, Kyle Andrei Bernardo, Gerard Trabasas, Rejie Florentino, Neil Orven Secondes, John Roland Magbag and Josh Jabez Gwan.

Corinth Chua’s Ilahas-Women include Jazel delos Reyes, Nadine Julia Crisostomo, Ivanna Aguilar, Arlene Jane Jayawon and Veronica Ysabel Divino.

For the Ilahas-Men of John Elray Jamelo are Shem Kelly Palcat, Josiah Su, Ben Rommel Tanista, Victor Seigfried D’lonsod, Herbert Aujero, Benjie Oray, and junior Ilahas coach James Vergel Jamelo.

Despite the successful stints of the national team in the international competitions in the previous years, forming the young teams for the men and women’s divisions remained a big challenge for the coaching staff of the Tchoukball Association of the Philippines (TAP).

The hard work of the sports association has slowly paid off following their achievements in foreign lands while strengthening their backbones through their grassroots programs across the country.

With this development, TAP is looking forward to include tchoukball as one of the sports to be played in next year’s Southeast Asian Games here in the Philippines.
