Castaway fest features millennial artists

THE SM Supermalls brought two of the most sought after music artists of today for this year’s last leg of the Castaway Music Festival 5 held at the SM City San Fernando Downtown Sunday, April 8.

ABS-CBN’s The Voice PH finalist Daryl Ong and GMA7’s Asia Pop Sweetheart Julie Ann San Jose serenaded the jampacked crowd with their hit singles and pop renditions at the mall building’s rooftop.

CLTV 36’s talents Barbie Manalo, Andy Pangan and Louie Anne Culala also performed various songs for the Kapampangan crowd during the early evening.

After nights of pop rock and electronic dance music in Pampanga and Clark, SM City San Fernando Downtown Mall Manager Lana Erroba said that Sunday’s leg of the Castaway music fest was for acoustic and pop music lovers.

The set-up —-- a dim-lighted open space under a bright, starry night surrounded with snack booths at the mall’s 7th floor — was perfect for couples and families who just wanted to chill and spend a day of their long weekend with light music.

“For tonight, chill chill lang tayo. We have Daryl Ong and Julie Ann San Jose to serenade us and we are thankful kasi despite their jampacked Sunday schedules, we were able to bring them here for our loyal shoppers,” she said.

Meanwhile, San Jose described the Kapampangan crowd as “one of her favorite audiences” because of their active participation and their exceptional love for music.

“Actually, one of my favorite crowds are the Kapampangans. One of my first concerts was held in Angeles, Pampanga and it’s been awhile since I last performed here and I am just so excited to be with everyone again,” she said.

San Jose expressed her gratitude to the SM management for inviting her for the first on Castaway and bringing her back to Pampanga.
