Laborer gunned down after drinks

A 46-YEAR-OLD construction worker was shot dead by two unidentified assailants in Barangay Cantuod, Balamban last Sunday night.

Police identified him as Selvando Aguanta of Asturias town, who succumbed to gunshot wounds in the head and other parts of his body.

On the same night, a man was hacked by his uncle in Barangay Barangay Minolos, Barili, after the latter mistook him for his enemy. Julito Enriques, 26, suffered wounds in the back, nape and arms, but survived the attack.

Suspect Percious Abellana, 36, fled from the neighborhood.

Fled on a bike

In the Balamban case, the killers of Aguanta wore jackets and escaped on a motorcycle toward Asturias.

Aguanta, before he was shot dead, had a drinking session with his friends outside the house of a neighbor. He later went home, accompanied by his wife. The gunman approached and shot several times, then boarded a motorcycle another man was driving.

Investigators still have to find out what motivated the attack, as the victim had no known enemies in Cantuod.

PO3 Emmanuel Blones, an investigator, said the police will validate the information that Aguanta had an enemy in Barangay Bairan, Asturias. Police recovered two empty shells and four bullets from a .45 pistol in the crime scene. (KAL)
