MY SIARGAO trip will not be complete without trying the Instagram perfect healthy bowls from Shaka.
Shaka is an all-day breakfast bar that serves colorful smoothie bowls aka power bowls, coffee, tea, smoothies and cold-pressed juices.
Just a short walk from the Cloud 9 boardwalk, Shaka has become one of the top tourist breakfast spots in Siargao for a quick and healthy pick me up before going on an island adventure. This also serves as a perfect pre-surfing meal!
The Food
They have a number of selections for their smoothie bowls (P250) all are freshly made and served in a coconut bowl. We ordered one of their best sellers, ¡¡Bom Dia!!, which is made of acai, banana, mango, pineapple, berries and coconut milk. I paired this with their iced café latte (made an exemption from my no coffee life) and paid their combo price of P300.
The power bowl was yummy though the mangoes were not sweet during that time but it’s all good and I still loved it.
The Vibe
The place isn’t that big, so you really have to wait if you want to get a table or you can opt to eat your power bowls while standing. They have seats outside as well if you’re feeling that island view.
There are lots of island related pictures hanging on the wall and the overall vibe is chill even though the place can get really packed.
The Verdict
What I loved about Shaka is that other than the yummy and aesthetically pleasing smoothie bowls they really put an effort to sustainability because they are using bamboo straws for their iced drinks. Customer service is definitely great as per experience but serving can really take time during peak hours since there are I think only three of them preparing the orders.
Bowls maybe pricey, but is definitely a must-try in Siargao when you visit.
Shaka is open from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
