29 jail officers negative for drug test

A TOTAL of 29 jail officers yielded negative in a surprise drug test conducted at the Metro Bacolod District Jail (MBDJ)-Male Dormitory in Barangay Handumanan, Bacolod City, on April 10.

Senior Inspector Norberto Miciano, jail warden of MBDJ, said 26 jail officers of MBDJ and three personnel of the Jail Provincial Administrator's Office (JPAO) submitted their urine samples for the test.

The drug test was conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in coordination with the jail's regional health service unit around 10 a.m.

Miciano said the test was part of the internal cleansing program of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) to ensure that jail officers are not involved in any illegal drug activity.

On February 12, 22 MBDJ personnel also yielded negative results in a drug test. (GYM)
