15 escapees recaptured in Zamboanga

MANHUNT operations continue by the local police with the support of other law enforcement agencies to recapture a detainee who remains at large, an official said Wednesday, April 11.

Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, said still at large is Sulayman Sali, who is facing illegal drug charges.

Sali was one of the 16 detainees who escaped from the detention cell of the Police Station 6 early Tuesday in this city.

The 15 detainees have either surrendered or captured separately by pursuing policemen in manhunt operations.

The detainees escaped around 2:50 a.m. Tuesday after one of them, William Parajado, cut the detention cell’s padlock with a hacksaw.

The two station guards on duty have tried but failed to stop as 16 of the 58 detainees ran fast them and fled to different directions.

Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent Neri Vincent Ignacio, ZCPO director, has relieved Superintendent Hadjiri Langgal as chief of the Police Station 6.

Galvez said also ordered relieved were 20 policemen on duty when the jailbreak happened.
