A FAMILY, who were on their way home, met an accident on Malaspina Street in Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City early Thursday, which killed three of them and injured four others, including a 16-year-old girl.
They just came from a hospital to visit their kin who passed away.
Police identified the fatalities as Erlinda Villar, Melinda Tesoro, and Rodelyn Nacis.
It was Villar's husband who died in a hospital which they visited early on.
Wounded were tricycle driver Elvis Villar, Geralyn Villar, Merlinda Barcenas, and the female-minor.
Senior Police Officer 2 Jun Garong, traffic investigator of Police Station 4, said the seven family members, who were on board a tricycle, were on their way to Murcia town around 12:50 a.m. when a Ford EcoSport vehicle collided with them.
The passengers of the tricycle were thrown off when the collision happened while the front part of the vehicle was severely damaged.
Garong said the vehicle driven by Luigi Malacon was reportedly speeding on his way home when it overlapped the opposite lane.
He was also suspected to be under the influence of intoxicating liquor.
Malacon, who refused media interview, also sustained minor bruises. He is detained at the station.
Meanwhile, a woman died while her partner was injured after they collided with a truck along the national highway of Barangay Binicuil in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental Wednesday morning.
Killed was Analiza Padorna, 39, of Barangay Inayawan, Cauayan town.
Wounded was Antonio Coyaqbo Jr., 28, of Barangay Inayawan, Cauayan town.
Police records showed the couple was riding a motorcycle on their way to Bacolod City when they overlapped the opposite lane and collided with a truck, which was on its way to Mabinay, Negros Oriental.
Padorna succumbed to multiple injuries while her partner was brought to a hospital.
The couple did not wear helmets when the accident happened.
Truck driver Edgar Requinto, 40, of Barangay Pantao, Mabinay town is detained at the station.
