Mayor: Albayalde is CSF’s pride

MAYOR Edwin Santiago of the City of San Fernando said incoming Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General and fellow Fernandino Oscar Albayalde is the pride of their home city, San Fernando.

Santiago made the statement during the local government’s commemoration of the 76th Araw ng Kagitingan on Tuesday, April 10, where he described Albayalde as a “modern Fernandino hero who is courageous and has a deep sense of nationalism.”

A native of San Fernando, Albayalde was born and raised in Barangay Dolores and served as provincial director of the Pampanga Police Provincial Office in 2014 before he was appointed as chief of the National Capital Region Police Office.

“General Albayalde symbolizes the Fernandino who is brave and loves the country. He is a son of San Fernando we are proud of,” he said.

Santiago said the appointment of Albayalde as chief of the 170,000-strong PNP can be considered a pay-off for the excellent performance he showed as member and official of his organization.

“He is excellent and we have seen this in leading police here in Pampanga and Manila. He has fired all the more that sense of pride of Fernandinos,” he said.

Aside from being a pride of San Fernando, Albayalde was also recognized province-wide as he was a recipient of the Most Outstanding Kapampangan Awards in the field of Law Enforcement in 2016.

Based on records, Albayalde is a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1986, and is reportedly the classmate of outgoing PNP chief, Director General Ronald dela Rosa.

He is expected to lead the PNP until November 8, 2019 when he turns 56 which is the mandatory age for retirement of policemen.
