Tell it to SunStar: Generating jobs here

THE Philippines calling overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) as modern heroes is mere flattery meant to evade its failure to provide these people with jobs at home. I am not sure what kind of pride we Filipinos have to be known as “kasambahay” exporter.

Instead of buying ships from other countries and running after gun makers in Danao City, why won’t the Philippines develop its own manufacturing enterprises (example is the Balamban shipyard), hire highly qualified technicians from abroad if needed and avail of the usual foreign funding? This way jobs are generated here.--Ed Colina of Talisay City
