DPWH bids out P12M Sagada road widening

THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will open the bidding for a road-widening project in Sagada, Mountain Province.

DPWH District Engineer Wilbur Likigan said the P12 million project will be bid out on November 24.

The project involves a 300 meter stretch of road from Sitio Nangonogan to the town center near the Mission Compound.

It comes amid a controversial road diversion project which cuts across portions of the Mission Compound where the ground is prone to sinkholes.

The diversion road, proposed in 2013 by the municipal government and in endorsed in 2014 by the Standing Committee of the Episcopal Diocese of Northern Philippines (EDNP), was meant to ease traffic congestion in the center of the town especially during peak tourist seasons. (GD)
