Enforcers to receive water backpacks this summer

THE Mandaue City Government will purchase 250 water or hydration backpacks to keep the traffic enforcers hydrated this summer.

Glenn Antigua, chief for operations of the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (Team), said most of the traffic enforcers are already in their 50s so they have to be hydrated, especially that they are manning traffic on the roads.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration officially declared the start of summer last April 10.

“Importante man gud di ma-dehydrate atong mga enforcers. Dapat hydrated gyud sila labi na naa sila sa dalan (It’s important for our traffic enforcers to keep hydrated especially that they are out in the street),” said Antigua.

Each water backpack is worth P1,800. Leizkent Enterprises wil supply the items.

Antigua said a radio operator of the City Command Center will give information about the temperature and remind the traffic enforcers to drink water from time to time.

These will be relayed through the traffic enforcers’ handheld radios.

Last Wednesday, Antigua met with the team leaders of the traffic personnel to inform them that the traffic enforcers do not need to be in the middle of the road the whole day and they may stay on the side of the road or where there is a shady area to monitor traffic situation. (FMG)
