DCCCII working with local chambers on biz opportunities

ACTING as a “big brother” to other business chambers in Mindanao, the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (DCCCII) is currently collaborating with other chambers to help enhance the business opportunities in their respective areas.

During the Habi at Kape press conference at Abreeza Ayala Malls last Wednesday, April 11, DCCCII president Arturo Milan said they have agreed to co-host the Mindanao Business Conference with the Tagum City Chamber of Commerce slated September of this year.

“We cannot contain the opportunities in Davao City alone. We need also to help others,” said Milan adding that as a ‘big brother’ to other business chambers in Mindanao, they have the responsibility of helping others as well.

As the Davao Investment Conference (Icon) is scheduled every two years and with the 4th Icon hosted by DCCCII last year, Milan said they wouldn’t be hosting it now. This is all the more a perfect time to collaborate with Tagum City Chamber of Commerce in organizing the Mindanao Business Conference.

Aside from Tagum, Milan said they have also talked with the presidents of the chambers of commerce in Zamboanga City, General Santos City, Cagayan de Oro City, and Surigao City representing the chamber of commerce of Caraga Administrative Region. During the talks, he said these chambers of commerce had already agreed to collaborate closely with DCCCII in order to enhance their respective groups.

Milan said during the Compostela Valley Business Conference where he was invited, he was also asked to meet the different local chambers of commerce in the province. “They would also want to do some benchmarking and would like DCCCII to also be a big brother to them which I said, by all means, we will do with whatever help we can extend. But at the end of the day, I tell them, it’s still their officers that can make their chamber active,” he said.

In addition, Milan said they were also vying to host the Philippine Business Conference in Davao City but they haven’t gotten any word yet from the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
