THE Davao City Veterinarian Office has assured enough supply of safe and quality meat in the city markets during the Yuletide season.
"Everyday naa tay mga tao sa market na nagatuyok-tuyok para i-check kung kumpleto ba ang mga papeles kung dili ba to siya mga hot meat (We have a team to check on the meat beng sold in the market)," Dr. Cerelyn B. Pinili, City Veterinarian said.
She said mass production of meat is now noted for the yuletide season.
"December grabe gayud ang volume sa demand for meat ana tungod kay Pasko so ang monitoring namo ana everyday (December is coming and the volume of the demand for meat is increasing because of the Yuletide season, so we are monitoring everyday)," Pinili said.
She added meat vendors are required to secure meat inspection certificates to prove their meat products have undergone inspection.
"We lack personnel but we find means so that in every slaughterhouse there is an available personnel to check. We have 12 inspectors, but we have augmented 10-12 personnel from other divisions who are trained to conduct meat inspection," Pinili said.
Meanwhile, Pinili also suggested that consumers must only buy to legitimate establishments and they should always look for meat inspection certificates to prove that the meat were inspected.
She added that buying uninspected meat can cause several adverse health effects.
