Chinese tourist hurt after taking selfie at Osmeña Peak

A CHINESE national was injured after falling from a 15-foot cliff in Osmeña Peak, Cebu while taking a selfie photo at Saturday noon, April 14.

Mayor Ronald Allan Cesante of Dalaguete, Cebu identified the female tourist as Lau Ten Yan, 35, and married. She is from Hong Kong.

The mayor said that Lau suffered a deep laceration in her abdomen.

Cesante said that Lau positioned herself on top of a rock adjacent to a cliff while trying to take a photo of herself. She, however, lost her balance because of the strong winds, and fell.

Lau was rescued by her companions, tour guides, and the local police.

She was brought to the Julio Cardinal Rosales Memorial Hospital in the town proper at 2 p.m. but she was transferred to the University of Cebu Medical Center in Mandaue City.

Rhafael Luche, chief of the Emergency Response Management of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDDRMO), said that Lau has been declared out of danger. (SCG of Superbalita)
