DAVAO City Tourism Operations Office office-in-charge Regina Rosa Tecson said they are yet to meet with the inspection team created under the amended tourism code which was recently called to inspect illegal structures in Marilog District and Times Beach.
"Actually wala pa naman kasing binigay na go-signal but the Business Bureau [head], myself and the City Planning and Development Office are already planning to meet para makagawa kami ng agenda to take up with the resort owners in Marilog. Mahirap kasi na pumunta ka lang and mag-inspect kang bigla na wala silang alam," she said.
Tecson added that they plan to set first an agenda.
"When we go there we want naman for a win-win solution for everybody," she said.
The Davao City Council on March 20 passed on suspended rules a resolution urging the inspection team under the amended tourism code of the city to form a task force to inspect the primary and secondary tourism enterprises in Marilog District and Time Beach, Matina Davao City.
This resolution was proposed by Councilor Al Ryan Alejandre after he found valid reason to urge the group to inspect since many establishments including accommodation establishments and resorts are being built in Marilog District, Davao City, but only two establishments have been registered.
He also noted that same kinds of establishments are also thriving in Times Beach Matina, Davao city.
"There are alarming reports that these establishments are non-compliant with the ordinances of the city, including the amended tourism code," Alejandre said on the resolution. "There is a need to look into these establishments if they are indeed followed the ordinances of the city including the Amended Tourism Code complied with, as well as the environmental and other concerns such as on the waste disposal and their compliance to the zoning ordinance of Davao City," Alejandre added.
In a press conference last week, he confirmed that they will wait for the team's finding so that they can conduct a joint inquiry with other City Council committees to discuss the matter at hand.
