Bacolod development council okays P3-B projects for 2019

THE Bacolod City Development Council (CDC) approved the proposed P3 billion Annual Investment Program (AIP) for 2019.

The proposed program, projects and activities were approved during the CDC meeting led by its chairman, Mayor Evelio Leonardia, on Friday at the MassKara Hall of the Government Center.

The meeting was also attended by CDC vice chairman executive assistance George Zulueta, secretariat Mary Jean Ramos, and its members composed of 61 barangay officials and non-government organizations.

Ramos said they approved several project proposals for economic, social, environment, and infrastructure.

She said they also approved that the AIP can be chargeable to the city’s 20 percent Development Fund which they estimated to be around P229 million which covers the economic sector including the roads.

It also included the social sector or social welfare, health, education; environment sector which include the solid waste management program, urban greening, and projects from NGOs.

Ramos said they have a mandatory allocation for the barangay development projects.

“The various barangays are the ones identifying their proposed projects and programs,” she said.

It also includes the expansion of Bacolod City College and the construction of Coliseum, among others, she said.

Ramos noted the proposed P3 billion AIP will be sourced from the city’s 20 percent Development Fund, General Fund or it will be endorsed to various national government agencies for possible funding of the projects.

“Some might come from other sources like the municipal development funds of the Department of Finance,” Ramos said.

She said the approved AIP will be endorsed to the Sangguniang Panlungsod through the committee of Councilor Ceasar Distrito for deliberation.
