Bottles containing harmful chemicals recovered

PERSONNEL of Davao City Central 911, Davao City Police Office and Task Force Davao on Monday, April 16, recovered bottles believed to be of insecticides buried beneath a shanty in a settlement area in barangay Sasa, Davao City.

The cache was discovered after one of the bottles was said to have leaked and caused harm on 42 residents. The 42 were evacuated and treated by the emergency unit of Central 911.

Initial investigation conducted by the police disclosed that around 5 a.m., Monday, April 16, a chemical odor coming from the house of one Cosme Sanchez of Purok Sto. Niño, particularly inside the room of his son, Regil Daya.

Recovered from his room was on-half sack containing pieces of 1 liter and 500 ml bottles of insecticides which was buried more or less one foot deep. The chemicals were already extracted from the area around 6 p.m.

The 42 victims, including children, were now in stable condition according to the responding 911 Medical Team. Recovered chemicals are now in the possession of the responding units in the area. (PR)
