Husband kills wife who admitted having an affair

RAFAEL Cuizon, 22, did not show any regret when he explained how he stabbed his wife dead inside their house in Barangay Umapad, Mandaue City last Saturday morning.

Cuizon said his wife’s relatives were outside their house when he left the area, but they did not know that his 23-year-old wife, Anerin, was already dead inside their room.

He had stabbed her in the stomach.

“Siya ra gyod ang babaye nga akong gihigugma gyod. Mas maayo pang pakamatyan kaysa maadto sa lain. Wa gyod koy pagbasol gyod. Mas maayo pang naingon ani ko kaysa makita nako sya sa laing laki (I didn’t have any other love. It’s better to see her dead than to see her with another man. I loved her that much. I don’t have any regrets),” said Cuizon.

Members of the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) arrested Cuizon in Sitio Lupac, Barangay Punta Engaño in Lapu-Lapu City at 4:30 a.m. last Sunday.

Senior Supt. Roberto Alanas, director of MCPO, said their team immediately conducted a follow-up operation to arrest the suspect.

“Based on the information, (he killed his wife) because of jealousy,” said Alanas.

Cuizon, who previously worked in the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s Visayas Disaster Response Center, said he was just 17 and Anerin was 18 when they decided to live together.

They got married last Nov. 8, 2014.

“Pag-uli niya gikan sa trabaho akong gihiling iyang bag. Akong gipangutana kinsay naghatag anang mga gida niya ba nga mga pagkaon ug kwarta. Niana man siya sa iya kunong laki. Niana sya nganong magbuot kuno ko. Giingnan nako siya bana gud ko nimo di ka mag-ingon ana. Unya gitubag man ko niya nga wa na kuno koy labot niya. Wa ra gyud ko (When she arrived home from work, I saw inside her bag some food and money. I asked her where she got those. She said those were from her lover, and that I should leave her alone. I told her I’m her husband and I care, but she said I didn’t mean anything to her),” he said.

He allegedly heard from a relative of his wife that Anerin had been checking into a hotel with another man.

“Mao to nablangko ko tungod sa akong kalagot. Mas maayo pang makita sya nga ingon ana kaysa mahibaw-an nako maadto sya sa laing laki (Then everything went black),” said Cuizon.

Cuizon will be charged with parricide at the Prosecutor’s Office of the Mandaue City Hall of Justice. He was temporarily detained at the MCPO holding cell. (FMG)
