Red House Taiwan Shabu-Shabu, Supreme ABF share NBA lead

UNIVERSITY of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (Red House Taiwan Shabu-Shabu) and Supreme ABF (Silvergraces Construction) shared the lead in the team standings with an undefeated record of three wins in the NBA 2018 President’s Cup at the Bacolod Tay Tung High School.

Coach Gerome Aledron’s Red House Taiwan Shabu-Shabu dominated RJ Enaya’s Duke Jay Game Farm, 75-64, despite the absence of their Cameroonian import Landry Zanjo.

Stephano Ayuco put Red House TSS with a 14-13 opening quarter lead even as Roel Balgos and Warlito Alintano combined for seven points.

Marvin Sanico sizzled for 12 points in the second period with Ritcher Santillan’s six points to extend Red House's advantage to 37-33 at the break.

Carlo dela Torre and John Mathew Benieves delivered six points apiece for Duke in that span.

In the third canto, Santillan added eight points as Kevin Villafranca operated inside the paint with 5 points to widen Red House Taiwan Shabu Shabu’s dominance going to the final period, 56-47.

Enaya’s Duke tried to catch up but Aledron’s ward always has the answers.

Santillan led Red House Taiwan Shabu-Shabu’s well-balanced offense with 18 points, Sanico added 14, Aljohn Catague with 13, Villafranca with 11 and Ayuco with eight points.

Dela Torre paced Duke Jay Game Farm with 15 as Benieves added 13 points.

Meanwhile, playmaker Bill Geolingo hit 15 points – eight in the final period as Supreme ABF outplayed Melfern, 92-77.

Bigmen Errol Doromal and Cameroonian import Frederick Ngoh Elombi were unstoppable with 13 and 12 points apiece.

Playing team manager John Alfred Gilbor sank three triples for nine points as they opened Supreme ABF’s 26-23 dominance and extended the advantage to 49-42 at the half on Geolingo’s seven points.

Paolo Masias hit seven points in the third period as their lead stretched to 69-57 entering the final period.

Melfern has some good chances to cut the lead to a single digit but turnovers hurt them as Supreme ABF extended the lead to 15 points with two-minute mark and never looked back.

Gilbor and Masias backstopped Geolingo with nine and seven points, respectively.
