3 dead, 5 injured in stabbing, hacking

THREE persons were dead while five others were injured after they were stabbed and hacked in separate incidents in Negros Occidental on April 15.

In Bacolod City, 26-year-old Jason Borbon, a native of San Carlos City, died while his companions Crisande Hoyohoy and Ronald Ignacio, both residents of Barangay Bata, were wounded after they were allegedly stabbed by brothers Rolando Aguinia, 29, and Rico Aguinia, 23, both natives of Canlaon City, Negros Oriental.

Police records showed that a misunderstanding ensued between the victims and the suspects while they were attending a party in Barangay Bata at 10:05 p.m.

All victims were brought to a hospital, where Borbon was declared dead.

Both suspects are detained at Police Station-Western Visayas.

In Cadiz City, Daniel Oniego, 24, of Barangay Tinampa-an, died, while Michael Ryan Oro, 22; and Ian Sodario, 24, both residents of the said village, were injured after they were reportedly stabbed by Jade Poticano, 28, of Barangay Zone 5, in front of a convenience store in Barangay Zone 3 around 12:20 a.m.

The three victims were sitting outside the store when the suspect arrived and attacked them with a 10-inch blade weapon, police records showed.

All victims were rushed to a hospital, where Oniego was pronounced dead. Poticano was arrested in a hot pursuit operation at his house.

Police eyed misunderstanding as the motive of the incident.

In Sipalay City, Rudy Villarin, 36, of Barangay Nauhang, was hacked to death by Pablito Tapinit, 40, around 3:30 a.m. His younger brother Yonie was injured.

The two brothers were sleeping in a nipa hut when the suspect, who is their brother-in-law, attacked them.

Tapinit was arrested at their house. He also turned over to the authorities the weapon used in committing the crime, a 20-inch bolo.

Both victims were brought to a hospital, where Rudy was declared dead.

His younger brother was transferred to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City.
