Former Angeles City mayor runs for Balibago chairman

ANGELES CITY -- Veteran politician Carmelo Lazatin, a former city mayor and Pampanga first district congressman, is running for chairmanship of Barangay Balibago, this city’s entertainment district.

Lazatin filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) last Friday at the city’s Commission on Election (Comelec).

He was accompanied by his three children, incumbent Pampanga First District Carmelo Lazatin, Jr., incumbent Angeles City Councilor Carmelo Lazatin, Jr. and businesswoman Janet Lazatin.

Lazatin will oppose incumbent Rodelio Tony Mamac’s wife, Tess Mamac, who is set to file her COC on Friday.

Mamac, a three-termer barangay chairman, this time will run for barangay councilman under his spouse’s ticket.

Lazatin’s running mates for barangay councilman include former city Councilor Louie Reyes, Soc manalastas, Allan Bonifacio, Louie Reyes, Joseph Timbang, Joel Ocop, Noel Rivera and Alex Nunez.
