Comelec Davao to remove most flying voters

THE Commission on Elections in Davao Region is focusing on cleansing the voter's list and eradicating double entries among registrants to ensure an accurate list.

Acting election officer Reynne Joy Bullecer said in an interview with Sun.Star Davao that they are in the process of checking the list of registrants who have transferred from Davao City to other municipalities or cities and those who have double name entries to ensure that there is only one registered name for every person.

“Naay mga minor incorrect entries so we have to check on that para isa ra jud ang ilahang record (There are minor incorrect entries so we have to check on that to make sure that the voters just have one record),” Bullecer said, adding that this only comprised of an estimated one percent of the total list of applicants.

Bullecer also said through the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (Afis) they will be able to detect flying voters.

“One can change their face and other physical features but one cannot change his or her fingerprint,” Bullecer added.

The office of the Comelec Davao's third district alone has a total of 8,282 forms to process and after the ERB Hearing which will be done in one week, the final list of voters will be determined.
