LIN-AY sang San Carlos City Jessica Zevenbergen bested 24 other candidates for the Lin-ay sang Negros 2015 crown in last night’s pageant that extended until 1:30 a.m. today.
Crowning her were her predecessor, Lin-ay sang Negros 2014 Alexis Danica Drilon, Negros Occidental first lady Dr. Marilyn Marañon, Metro Manila Development Authority chairman Francis Tolentino, and fashion designer Dong Omaga-Diaz
Aside from the coveted crown, 19-year-old Zevenbergen received P60,000 in cash, a sash, and a trophy. She was also chosen Miss Placenta, Miss Petron, Miss Nataasan, and Miss YSA Skin and Body Expert.
Lin-ay sang Sagay City Jennel Lacsina was 1st first runner-up, while Lin-ay sang Himamaylan City Blessie Joy Zayco was named 2nd runner-up.
Lacsina received P40,000 in cash, and Zayco got P20,000.
Lacsina was also chosen Best in Swimwear, Miss Pepsi, Lin-ay sang Organik na Negros-North, Miss Camella Bacolod, Miss Supercat, Miss Globe, and Miss Olive-C.
Rounding up the top 5 were Lin-ay sang Talisay Valerie Blancaflor and Lin-ay sang San Enrique Airrah Mae Trigue.
Blancaflor was also named Best in Evening Gown and Miss Glutamax, while Trigue was also named Lin-ay nga Maabilidad or Miss Talent, and Miss YSA Botanica.
Included in the Top 10 were Leister Jane Decinal of Kabankalan City, Maria Nena Balagtas of Moises Padilla, Eunica Janine Cabayao of Manapla, Jessica Estrella of Cadiz City, and Rina Setinta of Candoni.
Decinal was also named Miss Robinsons Photogenic.
Karla Panganiban of Isabela was named Miss 2GO Travel; Lin-ay sang Dunang Manggad, Miss I-Fern; Lin-ay sang Organik na Negros-South, and Lin-ay sang Kalinong. She was earlier voted Muse of the Media during the press presentation.
Other special awards went to Jeanilyn Itona of Cauayan—Best in Flora and Fauna; Gillene Lico of La Carlota City—Miss Congeniality, Marianne Candelasa of Hinigaran—Miss White Flower; Sharesse Marie Suarez of Toboso—Miss Cignal.
Lin-ay sang Murcia Peah Angelica Diamante was named Ms. Sun.Star Bacolod Readers' Choice. Diamante’s designer won Best in Flora and Fauna designer, while Itona’s designer Leonardo Geraldes won Best in Evening Gown designer.
Drilon received the award for Bacolod as the Lin-ay sang Negros Hall of Fame awardee.
Other candidates were Kirsten Pia Gicaro of Bago City, Camelea Miranda of Binalbagan, Marchelle Paragoso of Calatrava, Grezzyl Padios of E. B. Magalona; Ana Erica Avancena of Escalante City, Lindsay Belnas of Hinobaan, Mary Claire Rebatado of Salvador Benedicto, Jannica Barbasa of Silay City, and Chloe Nartalez of Victorias City.
The Lin-ay sang Negros, now on its 21st year, was one of the highlights of the 22nd sa Negros Festival, which culminates Sunday, April 19.
