DAR holds farmers' convention in Dipolog City

CLOSED to 400 farmers coming from 141 Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations (Arbos) have attended a two-day Microfinance Cum Farmers' Convention in Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte.

Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) regional director Felix Aguhob said the convention aimed to enhance the knowledge and means of accessing of Arbos on existing support services implemented by Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (Carp) line agencies and national government agencies.

Aguhob said the convention, which was held last week, also served as a venue to learn from the experiences of other organizations.

"The overall goals of the program are to enhance the farmers' productivity, strengthen and sustain their agro enterprises and microfinances," Aguhob added.

He said they tackled the following topics: Organic Farming-System of Rice Intensification, Support Programs on Cacao and Coffee, Status of Rubber Industry (Local and International), Support Programs on Coconut, and Status of Abaca Industry and Marketing Opportunities.
