Capitol planning to buy land worth P495 million

NEGROS Occidental Provincial Government is planning to purchase land worth P495 million that will be used for residential and mixed-use development, Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. said yesterday.

The governor was authorized by the Provincial Board, through two approved resolutions last Wednesday, to negotiate the purchase of the properties in the cities of Bacolod and Talisay.

The Provincial Capitol is planning to purchase the 400,000-square meter property of C&C Agricultural and Development Corporation at Barangay Mansilingan in Bacolod for P260 million, for residential purpose, and the 250,000 square meters of land in Barangay Matab-ang Talisay from Adrian Lizares for P225 million, which will be for mixed-use.

Marañon said that the property in Barangay Mansilingan will be utilized as residential lots for the Provincial Capitol employees, “so we will give them the opportunity to own a lot, where they can build a house,” the governor added.

He said that the last subdivision the employees availed of was more than 20 years ago, in Paglaum Village.

He added that 70 percent of the employees have not owned a residential property, as most of them are new employees, and that many have already retired without availing of a housing loan.
