Aguilas soar in Acosta Cup

AGUILAS Dabaw Football Club blanked Soya Football Club, 4-0, to emerge champion in the recently-concluded 12th Acosta Cup Football Ladies Tournament at the Tionko football grounds.

The lady Aguilas showed much firepower and dominance to secure the crown of the annual bootfest sponsored by Davao City Councilor Mabel Sunga-Acosta and officiated by the Davao Football Association (DFA).

PCT-Khanj, meanwhile, defeated Punta-DDS, 3-1, to grab the third spot.

Acosta spearheaded the awarding ceremonies along with DFA president Erwin Protacio, Charles Raymond Maxey who represented Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office (SDD-CMO) officer-in-charge William "Butch" Ramirez and CMO representative Brgy. Capt. Edgar Ibuyan, Jr.

Captain Rey Acosta and their firstborn son RV Acosta also witnessed the awarding rites where the Aguilas received a trophy and certificate for the team and medals with jerseys for every player.

The next two placers also claimed certificates, trophies and medals.

Tokens were given to coaches, referees, partners and sponsors including CMO, Vibrant Earthmovers, Bin Jaime Enterprises, Ulticon Builders Inc., RDL Pharmaceutical Laboratory Inc. and St. John Paul II College of Davao.

The event was organized to showcase lady booters' skills and talents in the sport. (MLSA/PR)
