Gunmen kill Chinese businessman in Zambo

A LOCAL Chinese businessman was killed in a drive-by shooting at a busy street in Zamboanga City, the police said Friday.

Chief Inspector Joel Tuttuh, Zamboanga City police spokesman, said the incident occurred around 7 a.m. Friday at the corners of Campaner Street Extension and Veterans Avenue in the village of Zone III.

Tuttuh identified the victim as Philip Lim, 53, the owner of Unicon Enterprises that deals with electrical products and other hardware products.

Tuttuh said investigation showed Lim was driving motorcycle on the way to his business establishment when fatally shot twice by one of two men riding tandem on another motorcycle that tailed and overtook him.

Chief Inspector Tuttuh said the victim expired while being treated at the hospital.

He said they are looking into all possible motives of the incident in a bid to unmask the identities of the gunmen behind the gun slay of the businessman. (Bong Garcia)
