CANDABA -- The local government here celebrated their annual municipal day with colorful activities on Saturday.
The festivity which started with a parade of the 33 barangays of the municipality is the expression of the gratitude to the town's patron saint, San Andres, for their bountiful year.
Village chairmen together with their councils led their group in representing their barangays in the parade.
Various presentations from municipal employees, barangay health workers and senior citizens also entertained the crowd during the five-hour program.
Mayor Rene Maglanque expressed his gratitude to the Candabeños for their constant coordination with the local government for the continuous development of the municipality.
Maglanque added that the municipality has more to celebrate this year due to its growth in terms of infrastructure and investment.
Fourth district Representative Juan Pablo "Rimpy" Bondoc graced the celebration wearing yellow shirt.
"I decided to wear yellow not because of political will but to show my support and coordination with Mayor Rene and this municipality," Bondoc said.
Quezon City Representative Alfred Vargas witnessed the event representing Liberal Party vice presidential bet Leni Robredo.
During his speech, he vowed that he and Robredo will implement programs that will provide assistance to the Candabeños.
The celebration of Municipal Day is part of the nine-day activity for the town fiesta which will be celebrated on Monday.
